A step-by-step instructional page on how to repaint your grill badge any color you like- works on all factory grill badges that I am aware of. Please feel free to email and ask. Comments and questions are always welcome.
Start by prying your grill badge (gently) off of your grill. The remains of the adhesive will be on the back, and you need to remove it. A fingernail usually works well.
The badge with the adhesive removed
Next, use some 80 or 100 grit sandpaper and gently sand the paint off the back of the badge. Do not be too aggressive- it will come off without too much effort, and you do not want to gouge the plastic.
With all the paint gone, you should be able to see through the badge- the plastic will be slightly hazy. Make sure all of the backing paint is gone, or it will show through, especially when using lighter final colors.
Tape off the sides and front of the badge completely- it is much easier to spray paint the new backing color than paint it by hand, and taping off the badge completely makes this a safe process. It is hard to see the tape I masked with, as it is clear, but paper tape works just as well.
Several coats of color later, you can pull the tape you masked with off.
The final product- reapply to your grill with 3M trim adhesive, and you are done.
