This page will quickly detail the steps taken to swap out your stock pitch stopper for the STi Group N hardened one. This helps reduce engine movement; the less the energy the engine exerts moving around in the engine bay, the more power ends up heading out towards the wheels. Just a quick photo of the little item we will be swapping here.
There is a first step to this mod, yes. However, there are many different types of airboxes in Subarus, and also a few different types of intercoolers out there. I am assuming that if you are confident enough to go ahead with this modification, you are confident enough to know how to remove your IC or intake plumbing. That being the case, you will then see something much like that in the photo above.
Here you see the end of the pitch stop closest to the throttle body. It is attached to this bracket with a simple nut/bolt combination. Remove this bolt.
At the firewall end, there is another nut/bolt combination, though this one is a bit harder to see, access, and undo. In any event, it needs to be removed as well.
With the bolts out, simply pull the stock pitch stop towards the throttle body and upwards, and out it will come. Installation of the Group N mount is simply a reverse of the previous proceedures. Tighten both bolts down to about 40 foot pounds of torque and you will be finished. This is a great addition to the STi Group N Engine Mounts and the STi Group N Tranny Mount.
